Bob Brozman and Skip Sail

Skip Sail is one of Australia's true bluesmen. Skip plays Delta blues on a National guitar better that just about anyone else. And he has taught me a lot. Skip doesn't have a website but you can write to him c/- PO Maldon, Victoria 3463, Australia.

I met Bob Brozman through Skip, as they often tour Australia together. Some say Bob is the greatest steel guitarist on the planet. For me that applies to any kind of guitar style he's playing. Some of my most cherished musical moments have been sitting around in my lounge room, playing ukulele and guitar with Skip and Bob. You can see what he's up to at www.bobbrozman.com

Steve and Donna Jackson have been great mates of mine for many years. Their shop, Jackson's Rare Guitars in Sydney, is known to guitar lovers all around the world. To find the guitar of your dreams, visit them at www.jacksonsrareguitars.com

Russ Shipton

Russ Shipton and I played together in London many years ago and Russ is still a good friend. His book, The Complete Guitar Player, is the best selling guitar instruction book ever. Visit him at www.russ-shipton.com and find out the answer to this intriguing question. Can Russ play?

Rick Falkiner is well known in Australian guitar circles. He can play in just about any style, from Classical to Blues to Jazz. Rick and I have played together at The Basement, in Sydney. He is known all around the world for his promotion and support of Australian guitar makers. Check out some great classical guitars at his website: www.guitarcentre.com.au

Doug Weaver is the guitarist who played with me on Not Really The Blues. I loved playing with Doug and his musical direction and extraordinary guitar playing certainly made the CD sound great. Doug and I are about to start working together again on a new project.  Doug writes and scores music for various TV shows through Neil Sutherland Music.  And he plays all over Sydney as half of the duo, Hello Cleveland.

Piers Crocker is a guitar builder and repairer, extraordinaire. His knowledge about old guitars is truly the stuff of legends. But what really keeps me coming back to his shop time and time again is the great conversations we have about, well, everything. These days, Piers can be found at Sydney Guitar Setups.  www.sydneyguitarsetups.com

Paul Cartwright used to play bass in the Adelaide band Gone To Earth. He has become a real musical inspiration for me over the last couple of years. Through Paul I have become friends with Toby Lang, drummer and Dave Pagano, guitarist and lead singer. They are all great players. These days Paul plays bass with David Bridie, Glen Shorrock and Brian Cadd.  He also has his own band, Kurosawa, with a new record, Your Star Has Fallen Over.  Check them out at www.myspace.com/kurosawadreams

John Negro fronts Sydney's best pub rock band, Green Beaver.  They are seriously good and you should go to see them soon as they often book me to play with them.  Their thing is blues that rocks.  John writes all the songs and the band's arrangements of them are complex and intriguing. So, expect the unexpected. Tip: Take some ear plugs. Check them out at www.greenbeaver.net

David Minear is the guiding light behind Bombora, a record label he started to bring some new energy into Australian music.  David's first release was Lawson, a bunch of Henry Lawson poems set to music by the great John Shumann.  His second was Delightful Rain, a celebration of Australian Surf Music.  Consequently he made us all realise that the best surf music was as good as anything, ever.  For the full story, check out www.bombora.net.au
